Good evening.
We had to resize the partitions on one of our servers using an imaging
software like Ghost. We now apparently have a USN Rollback problem. Hope
someone has a quick solution.
Scenario: 2003 Active Directory
DC1 has Exchange, DNS and holds all FSMO roles.
DC2 has DNS, DHCP and also running WSUS.
DC1 needed partitions resized. Created backups of system state as well as
image of drives.
Resized volumes and put image back on (3 days later). Now NTFrs won't
talk.
NetLogon service is starting out Paused and DC1 is rejecting replication
from DC2.
Plan on following MS KB article 875495 but was hoping that doing an
authoritative restore of the system state would be quicker and less
intrusive than demoting one of the DCs and NTDSUtil to pull references.
Have
no problem demoting DC2 since it isn't holding FSMO roles and no Exchange,
but article suggests performing this process on the recovered DC.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
