Hi
Have a major problem. The raid failed on the Primary Domain controller.
There was minimal replication set up on the secondary, with all operation
masters on the primary. Worse, the hosting company haven't backed up the
Active Directory. (I know I know).
Anyway, the server has been rebuilt by the hosting company and added into
the domain as a new server name. I am assuming they couldn't join the
domain
on the old name as it was still registered on the secondary Domain
Controller..
Anyway, I need the Primary back as its original name.
I have tried to delete this server using DCPROMO and I get the following
Message.
The operation failed because:
Active Directory could not transfer the remaining data in directory
partition CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ts-hosting,DC=co,DC=uk to domain
controller DS27633.ts-hosting.co.uk.
"Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect."
I know I am bing stupid and have missed something obvious, but don't know
what.
Can anyone help. Now its on the domain, is a rename option the best
choice,
or is it better to remove it from the domain, remove any reference to it
then add it back to the domain with the correct name?
BTW, its a small 3 server network, with one Terminal server and 2 domain
controllers and no workstations, (everyone logs in on the Terminal server)
Windows server 2003 R2.
Thanks
Rowland
