Problem in FSMO role siezing...

by =?Utf-8?B?TWFoZXNoLkE=?= <MaheshA@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 13, 2006 at 05:03 AM

Hi

I created a Windows 2003 R2 Test setup and tried to do FSMO role siezing
as
explained below but facing problem with RPC error.Request yo to pls help
me
for the same.

1)I have two Server with Windows 2003 R2 STD edition where one server is
configured as Root DC and other Server is configured as ADC.
2)Both the Servers are configured as GC and DNS Servers.
3)To carry the FSMO role transfer/siezing test i have made down the Root
DC
and logged in to ADC.
4)When i tried to transfer RID master role, it gave me error that role
cannot be transferred as Root Dc is not reachable. Then i tried to transfer

PDC emulator and Infrastructure and i found able to transfer role
forcefully. Then i booted Root Dc and checked these three roles and found
that
RID master is with Root DC only and PDC and Instrastructure roles are
transferred to ADC.
5) Then again i made down Root DC and tried to sieze the role by command

ntdsutil:roles
fsmo maintainence: connections
Server connections :connect to Server %servername

after this stage i am getting error as "DSBindW error 0X6ba(The RPC Server

is unavailable)

so i am not able to sieze the roles to other DC,pls let me know how can i
do
this...
