Greets,
Is there a way to create something similar to a search folder, that
contains
only links to items physically stored elsewhere, rather than actual items,
that is populated via some means other than Outlook's so-called advanced
search? Like maybe an Add method that accepts an EntryID?
Outlook search folder's 'sup****t' for user-defined properties is way too
broken to be of any use to me -- like how do they figure that exists/not
exists criteria are valid for numeric properties but not for strings? I
guess, given that exists conditions are unreliable where they are
sup****ted,
issues regarding where they *aren't* sup****t become somewhat moot...
(Attempting to fathom the mindset is vexing to say the least.)
As I think of it, the core of something like this would be the ability to
create symbolic links to items, analogous to file system shell links (aka
shortcuts), or symbolic links to registry keys (e.g., HKEY_CL*****_ROOT
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER.)
This concept is surely found in Outlook, but OOM tech ref says the Links
property only applies to item objects, and further, can only reference
ContactItems. Is there more to the story under the hood?
TIA,
Mark
