Hi.
I am trying to install Commerce Server 2002 Developer Edition into a new
environment that uses VMWare. VMWare's site has references to Commerce
Server, so we took this to mean that it would be sup****ted. Our database
server is on the "main" ****tion of the VMWare machine while we are trying
to
install Commerce Server on one of the virtual machines. We keep getting a
message:
An error ocurred while attempting to access/configure the database
"master"
on SQL Server "my server name". Please verify that:
- This SQL Server does not have an unused "master.mdf" or "master_log.ldf"
file in its "Data" directory.
- The SQl Server and SQL Server Agent services are running on the SQL
Server
Computer.
- The SQL Login "" has the ability to create databases (adjust the login's
Server Role).
Please fix the problem and click Retry to proceed, or press Cancel to
abort
the installation.
The installation user is a user of the database, is also a local
administrator of the SQL Server, has the "Database Creators" role and has
pretty good rights in the master database. In fact, I have even created a
table in master, inserted a row, deleted a row, and then dropped the table
to
ensure that the user's privileges are good enough, and had no problems.
I also tried creating a database user (e.g. <CSInstall>) and granted
similar
rights to that user and the only difference is that the last message says
"The SQL Login "CSInstall" has the ability..."
SQL environment is SQL 2000, sp3.
Thanks,
Lar
