Forms-based authentication

by "Martin" <x@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 20, 2004 at 08:18 AM

Hi,

I would like to repeat the unanswered question by fran
(anonymous@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
) on 2004-02-14 08:41:03 PST:

"What is the difference between the Forms-Based
authentication and the own one of Commerce Server 2002?"

I note the web cast "Rapidly Building eCommerce solutions using ASP.Net
and
CS2002" by David Messner does not use .net forms authentication.

..Net forms authentication seems like a good base line to work from, so I
am
surprised CS2002 best practice seems to ignore it. (Retail2002 solution
site
uses Windows authentication)

Presumably both CS2002 AuthFilter and .Net forms authentication have
advantages and disadvantages- what are the relative pros and cons?

I suspect this is another area for upgrade in the next version of
commerce,
but in the mean time clear guidance is required.

Thanks
Martin
