Bread Crumbs In Navigation

by =?Utf-8?B?VGJvbmU=?= <tbone@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Dec 26, 2006 at 12:13 PM

Our site uses a navigation mechanism that displays the
category/subcategory/product hierarchy in linked text should the visitor
choose to retrace their steps.

However, as we have some of our products in multiple categories a
situation
will occur that the category/subcategory/product will jump to another path

based on the products placement in another category.

to illustrate.
Say I click on bike, tires, whitewalls expecting the breadcrumb to be:
Home >> Bike >> Tires >> Whitewalls >> "item"
What will happen at the product detail page will be:
Home >> Accessories >> Rubber Products >> "item"
due to the product being in multiple categories,

I've not been able to determine how the catalog path is chosen at any
given
level.

My question would be, is there something I can be adding to my code to
gain
control of what will be displayed as the catalog path for an item?

I'm using CS 2002 FP1. There is a property sheet that will let me select a

primary category which would suffice. But setting this property in catalog

manager seems to have no effect in the operation. Should code be put into
place to check this value and return it ahead of other categories that the

item might be nested in?

Please let me know if there is additional code and/or info needed.
