We are trying to use the virtual catalog as a way to modify the structure
slightly for display on the website, example:
BaseCatalog
-> Tools
-> Hair Dryers
VirtualCatalog
-> Department
-> Tools
-> Hair Dryers
Categories are added to the virtual from the base, and the category
properties are modified to add a parent category "Department". Any time
we
make a change to the base that forces the virtual to rebuild, the category
appears under the root as well as under "Department". The category
property
still says that it's parent is "Department".
Also, we added categories and products two different ways, just to be
sure.
One, was to add all products when creating the virtual catalog as in
Include
rule, the other way was to manually add each category, doing a right-click
"Add to Virtual Catalog".
