Has anyone else experienced an issue inserting clipart into a new Word
do***ent that has A) Windows XP SP2 fully updated, B) MS Office 2003 fully
updated, and C) have tried to insert clipart of the WMF format that's from
the online source and had word up?
One of my users re****ted that they are now unable to insert clipart into
word. When I tried this on their machine it locked up Word for a good 10
minutes eventually generating an error 0x800C000C. I can not find a thing
about this error on MS site or anywhere else.
It appears to be the WMF files that are being downloaded from
office.microsoft.com that are causing this problem. If the WMF is already
on
the local machine it does not lock up Word. If I select a GIF or JPG from
the
clipart on MS online they work fine. Confused to no end on this one I turn
to
the net and find that MS released an office update KB907417 that I "think"
is
the criminal. Any system that's running XP with office 2003 and has that
update seem to lock up. If they don't have that update they seem to be
fine
and that's an update that isn't able to be uninstalled through normal
means.
The problem is wide spread with my users. I've eliminated McAfee as a
source
of the problem since it can be replicated even when McAfee is not
installed
on a system. I've tried viewing the WMF images from the online libraries
in
Clipart Organizer and it still locks up for 10+ minutes. I've tried a list
of
clean up proceedures including some reg tweaks that I know of. Nothing is
working.
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks
