HELP - Install stops at Do***ent Explorer

I'm trying to install Visual Studio 2005 on Vista Ultimate and it hangs at 
Do***ent Explorer. I've tried the run as administrator and that doesn't
work.

I've seen articles that state Framework 2 may not be installed correctly, 
but can't see where I can uninstall it to force the VS 2005 to install it
a 
fresh
