I will answer the first question, greygoose answered the others.

I'm assuming you are referring to MS Word:

1. Start Word
2. Open your do***ent
3. Make sure the Home tab is activated
4. Look at the far right of the ribbon in the group [Editing]
5. The third option is [select]
6. click the little arrow beside [select]
7. the first option in the combo is [All] which is the equivalent to
ctrl-A
