OK, i cuurently have moved from a desktop sup****t role to Unix sup****t
working on
AIX. So getting experience of Unix is valuuable. I want to become a DBA
and
use
SQL server. In my work place there are always oppertunities for DBA's . We
do use
a lot of Oracle here. Im no SQL expert but have just begun reading books
on
SQL, and am interested in the MCDBA path with Microsoft.
My main questions are:
1. Does SQL server run on unix ( althought we will prob use server 2003
anyway)
2. Is unix/AIX worth learning to be a DBA
3. Where do i start, i have no degree in IT but understand it well. here
is
my career path example: unix > network+ > SQL > MCDBA > Oacle is this a
good path?
