IP ADDRESS

Hi:

I have a question? I am using Broadband service right now.  I like to know

whether my IP address will remain the same after I disconnect from the 
network.  I heard the IP address will change after the modem is switched
off. 
 Otherwise, it will remain the same on the computer even after the 
disconnection on Windows.  I am using Windows XP.
