LAN and Wireless Internet connection

I have just installed a Belkin wireless modem/router for an ADSL serivce 
using a laptop with Vista via a Lan connection. I then reconnected the
laptop 
as a wireless connection. When I added my PC as a LAN connection it
connected 
but it crawls in data transfer and soon stops communication. I use dignose

connection which comes out fine. I have a VIA Rhine II fast ethernet card.
I 
have tried to find an updated driver but it has been a fruitless endevour.
I 
cant connect to Windows update for assistance as it times out.

Please help!
