I bought a new computer (box only) recently and a new router. The new
router
is to replace an older one still working but with a separate wireless
unit.
Together they got mighty hot in this climate here. It has taken me three
weeks to finally arrive at the right settings to operate three computers
in
my house. The disc supplied did not set up correctly, the help files were
very vague and full of abbreviations which were incomprehensible. My ISP
sup****t is almost non existent and I gave up trying to get outside help.
However I got there eventually.
My biggest gripe is the complexity of setting up an Internet connection
without any real help. I cannot imagine how "little old ladies" and
elderly
people manage when all they want to do a little surfing and or banking
etc.
I blindly push buttons but never remember which ones I pushed. I suppose
the
geeks make a small fortune bailing people out. Pity the manufacturers
cannot
supply the computers all ready to go with just a user name and password.
Am
I asking for the moon?
