Host machine: WinXP SP2 all MS update
VMWare: 6.0.5
VMWare machine: Win2K3 SP1
At the office our network is 192.168.1.x. At home I have 192.168.2.x with
the D-Link wireless router being 192.168.2.1. [Note: I have a D-Link
wireless router for the house but I'm actually hardwired via a couple
D-Link
RJ-45 wall outlets with my laptop. Still the D-Link router is used but
not
in the wireless setup when IN my home office.]
The gateway at the office (Win2K3 SBS single server) is 192.168.1.21 with
a
SonicWall TZ170 at 192.168.1.254.
In attempting to setup a VMWare Win2K3 SBS system on my WinXP laptop, I'm
unable to connect to the internet under these values (I'm sure I need
something for the DNS but I don't know what!)
Here's the DNS currently = [all blanks]
Secondary DNS currently = [all blanks]
Local IP address of router = 192.168.2.1
My laptop has DHCP setup for IP addresses.
The IP address provided for the VMWare session is 192.168.112.129
I'm confused on how to setup the VMWare session so as to access the
Internet. I can't get the MS Updates without connecting to the Internet!
What values do I use for the primary DNS? I can leave (I think) the
secondary DNS blank. Do I need to setup the VMWare session while AT the
office (192.168.1.x) rather than at home under 192.168.2.1?
Anything else I need to review?
TIA!!
