Problem with AoE3 disc 3

I recently bought Age of Empires III.  The installation gets past the 
first two discs, but on the third disc is sits there and then asks that I 
insert disc 3, which is in the drive.

I have tried installing on a Vista laptop and two XP desktop machines and 
they all do the same thing.  If I insert just disc 3 independent of the 
installation wizard none of the machines can see it.

Is it possible to download this game from Microsoft?  Afterall it can't be

played without the activation code.
