I know this is an old issue -- trying to install SR2 on Vista. I had no
problem installing Access 97, along with the Jet update, and the database
appears to be working fine. I would like to also install SR2, however.
This is the Home Basic edition of Vista. Somehow, I had previously
installed
97 and SR2 on another computer with Vista and had not run into any
problem.
Go figure. The only thing I remember doing was choosing "run as
administrator" for each step, including applying that to msaccess.exe.
The workaround I ran across involved tem****arily replacing certain Vista
fonts (comic.ttf, comicbd.ttf, tahoma.ttf, and tahomabd.ttf) with those
versions which come with SR2, then installing SR2, and then replacing the
original Vista fonts. This particular computer won't copy and paste the
Vista fonts (see posting to Vista newsgroup below).
If I can't get this workaround to work, is there a way I can manually
apply
SR2? I've extracted the SR2 files using Run/<SR2 exe file> /c /t:<some
folder>
I just want the files relevant to Access 97 -- I don't want to disturb
Office Basic (Word, etc.) which was included with Vista.
Thanks for any suggestions (other than cursing Microsoft, which I'm
